ICENI ROADSTER

This was the original version we created back in 2006 and it created quite a stir in the worlds press. The Daily Mail reported

“The sports car that runs on CHIP FAT OIL: Convertible roadster reaches 200mph and lasts 2,000 miles on one tank of fuel

  • Trident claims its Iceni model is the world’s most fuel efficient sports car
  • It can reportedly travel 2,000 miles on a single tank of mineral or bio-diesel
  • Engine uses ‘torque multiplication technology’ for speed and fuel efficiency
  • Three models have been launched – the Iceni Magna, Convertible and Venturer estate
  • Both versions run on pure biodiesel, such as cooking oil or virgin rapeseed
  • The convertible model has a clever roof that means the driver can be covered while the passenger has it down, and vice versa
  • Prices start at £96,000 ($161,578) for the most basic version”

This car was built around a unique purpose built stainless steel chassis guaranteed for 100 years against corrosion. The body was hand formed in a grp composite. The drivetrain featured a Duramax 6.6 litre V8 turbo diesel engine mated to Tridents own design 6 speed auto transmission that featured the companies Torque Multiplication technology. This patented design focused on using the huge torque produced at low revs by the large diesel engine.

As a result the car had huge performance while being very fuel efficient as the engine operated at low revs where maximum torque is generated. Trident produce our own ECU,s to suit the desired multi fuel characteristics. Fuel efficiency is improved by up to 20%. At 70mph the engine is turning at only 980 rpm

The base power figures are:

395 bhp

700 lbs foot of torque

0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds

Top speed over 190mph

Fuel economy 4.1 litres per 100kph

A performance pack was available which upped the engines power output to 660hp and 1050lbs/ft of torque and came with uprated suspension and carbon ceramic brakes

The cars styling was created with two removable roof panels that allowed the owner to change the fully closed coupe to an open top roadster by taking out the panels and stowing these in the boot. The finest leathers were used in the interior.

The car is still available but as diesel engines are falling out of favour the power plant has now been changed to a 3 litre turbo V6 producing 500hp.
